Me Made May 2017: Day 16

Hi!

Here is one suit made by me whose fabric I bought long time back.

Day 16

 Fabric used are:

Brocade in gold and moss green,

Brocade in bottle green and emerald green,

And gold brocade for the churidar/lowers.

I even bought a stole in  nearly gold beige with few woven strands in green.

 I made a circular yoke on A-line kurta..

And embellished it with subtle embroidery...

I did a smart job..

I got some golden beads, velvet cut-out flowers, stick-on crystals and fabric glue...

Sketched a pattern..

Stuck the flowers with fabric glue...

Sew the beads in place....

Done....

It is a lovely ensemble.

I like it..

Hello!

In the middle of a week!

Day 12

 Love hand loom, hand crafted products.

This is a straight cut kurta with three quarter sleeves.

Made from Kalamkari hand blocked cotton fabric.

Kalamkari way of motifs and painting are very specific to their own styles..

And they use natural dyes.

Have used indigo fabric for yoke and piping..

Have embellished the yoke with big mirror embroidery using red threads on indigo yoke.

I can wear this kurta/top with indigo/ burnt red/ beige lowers

As I said

Day 11

 Yet another slip for my daughter.

Love the feel of pure white fine cotton against the skin..

Closeup of crochet lace on all edges..

Here is a Rabbit running around with a bunch of flowers..

Again simple stitches as

Stem, chain and button hole.

I love the use of cotton fabric slips for little girls.

Me Made May 2017: Day 10

Hi Everyone!

Today and tomorrow I share some Old world Charm we all enjoyed as children!

Day 10

A slip made of pure fine cotton fabric with little embroidery..

Here is the slip I sew for my 8 year old.
There are crocheted lace on all edges..
The slip is loose fit with big armholes and little gather on the waist...

 Here is a close up of the lace..
Simple but beautiful...

Mr Pig in his garden taking care of his flowering plants...

I made this embroidery with simple stitches like..
Stem, chain and button hole.

The slip is ready.
As I, and as many of you used to wear cotton slips in childhood; I prefer them to today's hosiery/ T-shirt/ jersey material factory made spaghettis.
My daughter adores it..
Fun to watch her wear this and potter around...

EASY SHASHIKO RUNNER!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This year first post shall be a lovely indigo runner made by me..

ANYONE JUST ANYONE who can hold a needle with thread and put it through a fabric can do this.. Easy and amazingly beautiful.



I had a fine cesmet cotton fabric in indigo just the right length for a table runner.
Hem the edges.
May add a little crochet lace or trimming on the sides to decorate it.

Did a lot of net surfing for shashiko embroidery from Japan.
Made a few designs inspired by them and for rest..
Realized I just need a pattern to repeat itself neatly.
I made many designs and wanted all of them..
So divided the runner into portions for each pattern.
While you sew simple run, make sure that even the back is neat with minimum threads and knots.
Used single strand two ply wool to sew. It gives good textured look. One can also get special threads for shashiko embroidery ordered through net.
 

 Draw a pattern add cut it out. Using a fabric marking chalk repeat the pattern on the fabric aget your own design.
Bellow Left: Pentagon cut out and repeated.
Another design: Zig-saw puzzle piece from my kids toys repeated

RED EMBROIDERED SWEATERS: BEFORE & AFTER

Vacations really catch you up! Had been wanting to post this since last week...

 My kids moved to a different school and so different school uniforms. Had to do something with the school sweaters. They are almost new and well fitting.

 Here is the sweater, to begin with I simply picked out the stitches holding the school logo, very neatly.

 This is my son's sweater with a potted Christmas tree. The decorations are sequins just stuck using fabric glue. The star on top and small ones on sleeves are embroidered.

 This is the first time, am embroidering on knitted garment. Believe me it's very easy, especially if you are using wool. Use very simple basic stitches.

 Here is my daughter's sweater. Logo out. Sketched a pine tree branch in pen, amd also snowflakes on the sleeves.

 Using pale green wool to sew in some pine leaves/needles. Did the branches and stem in Grey wool

 Here is this sweater complete with pines (which are silver and golden sequins glued in clusters) and snowflakes on sleeves.

This sweater is so appropriate for the season and time of festivity, that these have become Aarotrika and Adhrit's favorite sweaters. They wear them everyday to park..

EMBLISHED T-SHIRTS

Hi! A few days back I stumbled upon a folder in computer with some pictures of my adventure in turning bland T-shirts into funky ones. I took these pictures some four years back maybe..

See how I jazzed up two plain high neck T-shirts..

How time flies...

OK, I started by buying plain high neck full sleeves T-shirts in sunny yellow and lemon green for my kids. I still do so: buy plain Ts and jazz them up to get a customized unique wardrobe member.

Note in the next image I drew some outlines with pencil on the T

All I did was simple patchwork or appliqués,  simple stitches as stem, back, chain or button-hole, a few buttons here and ribbon there, and sometimes acrylic paint..

Me Made May 2016: Day 30

Hi! Namashkar!

Just two days left and now I want to share so much..

Am Indian

And my wardrobe can never be complete without Sarees..

I believe

All women look beautiful in Saree irrespective of their sizes, shapes or colour..

Its a graceful garment..

Why this Saree?

I had bought 5 and half metres of plain orange Khadi silk Saree and painted it..

Shakuntala and Dushyant story scene is depicted in Pulla or Aanchal..

The jeweleries have been  embroidered in gold threads and sequins..

All around the border there are beautiful deers painted in the garden..

The blouse or top that I wear here is made of self woven pattern cotton fabric in red. It is the same fabric used by me to make the kurta I wore on Day 10

I highlighted the woven pattern with simple run stitches with beige colour threads.

The blouse is ordinary front open darted blouse,

But, back is interesting

It appears to be back open due to beige buttons sewn in with red threads

And asymmetric neck..

I love the entire ensemble

Hello Everyone!

Wear a bright dress to 

Brighten your moods and your day!

What can be more bright?

I was just strolling in the market when I spotted this bright green and magenta very Indian print cotton fabric..

I just had to have it..

The Kurta is simple A-line dress with side slits..

The yoke

Well its historical

It was more of a sampler piece on which my Mother taught me variety of stitches..

We gave it a shape of yoke and used it on an Anarkali kurta..

The Anarkali kurta is no more, but

The yoke stayed with me

I used it here..

Just perfect match..

Its so bright and I like it..

Hi There!

Lets see what I have here..

Today am wearing a

Printed Georgette kurta with same fabric stole and yellow cotton churidaar.

The kurta is "A" line

The sleeves have a touch of yellow from fabric for churidaar as piping..

The neck yoke is interesting..

The yellow cotton fabric was sewn with pin tucks to give texture,

And then cut in shape

Adding to it Georgette piping,

Yellow cotton fabric with blue embroidery to form lace

and finished with another Georgette piping

I just can't believe, I have managed so far..

Today's creation is..

Copper coloured satin top..

V neck and straight cut..

Simple cuttings and sewing, but then

There is button-hole type edging with black threads, on sleeves and bottom to highlight and embellish..

The neck is lightly embroidered with black threads..

Stylish

Bohemian

Fun

Me Made May 2016 : Day19

Hello!

Did you notice?

I got a haircut..

A fresh haircut always makes me happy..

Today, am wearing  "A"line kurta with matching churidaar and contrast orange dupatta or stole..

The fabric is hand loom cotton or known as South Cotton..

It is predominantly bottle green..

The fabric used for the kurta has been embroidered with lotus pattern..

The embroidery is reverse shadow and run..

Not much to say

Neat

& Elegant..

Me Made May 2016: Day18

Hi and have a lovely day!

Today am going for a hair cut..

Badly needed..

So on the way..

This top is made of cotton mulmul fabric with

Lucknowi Chickenkari embroidery on it..

Lucknowi chickenkari is shadow work embroidery..

The style and patterns are typical to Lucknow from state of Uttar Pradesh in India.

As I was little short of fabric for the sleeves, I added length by joining some plain fabric and embroidering on it to match the rest of the top..

It doesn't show anymore..

Don't stare at my sleeves next time you you see me in this top.
Ha!Ha!

Me Made May 2016: Day 14

Hi Everyone!

Hope You all have a lovely bright happy day today!

I once went to a shopping mall and saw a similar top on one of the high end showrooms..

I kept the image in my mind..

And as soon as I reached home drew it on paper.

Then this is what I made with the help of my mother..

The top is made of sunny golden yellow pure cotton fabric

I sew and

My mother did the crochet and embroidery..

O! You must see her speed and neatness in embroidery and crochet.

The sleeves are open, just attached with little pleats on the shoulder.

There is just one hook concealed by crochet in front.

The crochet highlights the sleeves, neck and lower border..

Clover leaves are embroidered on chest, back and near lower border.

Yellow with touches of green make a very refreshing combo..

The dress instantly peps me up

Me Made May 2016: Day 4

Hi Everyone!

Am so thrilled..

Today's dress is..

Well today am wearing both the upper(kurta) and lower (churidaar payjama)  garment stitched by me.

The kurta is made of cotton fabric with block print. I have added border of contrasting strips of printed pink and muted gold fabric near sleeves, lower border and yoke.

The yoke is further embellished with sequins and Sindhi embroidery in red. The Sindhi embroidery is by my mother. I learnt Sindhi embroidery from Mamma, but am a little less confident with it.
