EMBLISHED T-SHIRTS

Hi! A few days back I stumbled upon a folder in computer with some pictures of my adventure in turning bland T-shirts into funky ones. I took these pictures some four years back maybe..
See how I jazzed up two plain high neck T-shirts..
 My kids four years back
How time flies...

OK, I started by buying plain high neck full sleeves T-shirts in sunny yellow and lemon green for my kids. I still do so: buy plain Ts and jazz them up to get a customized unique wardrobe member.
Note in the next image I drew some outlines with pencil on the T

All I did was simple patchwork or appliqués,  simple stitches as stem, back, chain or button-hole, a few buttons here and ribbon there, and sometimes acrylic paint..
Here is a scene of kids having fun on a sunny day near home

I don't spare any surface :)
Here is a scene inspired from The Ratatouille animation movie, on the other side of T

Now the next T-shirt
Here are my kids cycling up a small hillock upto an apple tree
See the apples are small buttons

On the other side of T...
The shoes lace are red satin ribbon stitched up sparingly on to the T

Hope you all enjoyed my early venture into photographing from my early days of blogging.

SPEED CAR ON MY Tee !

If you remember my last post on " CAR RIDE ON MY T-SHIRT  " dated 31/05/2014; my daughter got a t-shirt with a car on it ; my son also wanted one. Like all sons they love cars and speed. So I got him a polo neck dark green T-shirt with full sleeves keeping in mind the cold weather coming ahead.

Next I drew a car, got it approved by Adhrit(my son).

Coloured it.

Sew it the same way as my daughter Aarotrika's T-shirt.
What do you think?
Adhrit was tired after all his days play and slept till late in the evening. So Aarotrika modeled the T-shirt for me.

Dresses always look good on people than on hangers or mannequins.
Ready for the ride?

May I sing
"आजा मेरी गाड़ी में बैठ जा।
आजा मेरी गाड़ी में बैठ जा।
फुल स्पीड जायेंगे
कंही रुकेंगे न हम। … "

CAR RIDE ON MY T-SHIRT

Hey check this!

This used to be my younger one's PT(physical training/sportday) weekly uniform last year in Kindergarten junior class . Well obviously he wore this dress for not more than 35 days last year and not more than 5 hours a day. Result the colour of T-shirt has not changed a shade, and not a thread astray, (just like new). I could not throw it away or pass it on to any body suitable, had to do something with it urgently before my kids could outgrow it.

This is the original T-shirt with logo of school in front. I need to hide this.

This is back of T-shirt with name of school. I need to hide this too.

My child wanted a car. So I sketched a car.

 Coloured it too..

Now I looked into my discarded lot of clothings which had something in them that could be reused or recycled. So I got cut outs from jersey material, knit material, and velvet; none of these loose threads at ends.
I used back stitches to fix the cutouts to T-shirt.
Is this looking bit too crude
Well there's a purpose
  • fixing appliqué to T-shirt
  • decorative purpose

Is this not looking nice now with the button hole stitch on the back stitch?

Note as this is a kid's wear, I used contrast colours to give toonish look. Then embellish with whatever your like (buttons/ paint/ sequin/...)

On the front I used collar of a discarded baby sweater to make a flower finished with a button in center. I used my Aunt's crochet book to crochet a butterfly.

There my Aarotrika modeling this T-shirt on a recycled denim skirt.

Here is the car. Ride on it through the greens, flowers, butterflies....

Drama on T-shirts

I went to the market once and found two fluorescent bright colored high neck full-sleeved T-shirts. Any mother would agree the how useful are such Tees for the evenings and start of winters.
Imagine  blank Tees mean................fresh canvas...
Yellow yellow dirty fellow
sitting on a buffalo!
funny, strange, eh!?
but a bright sunny yellow happens to be one of the choicest colour of my child

I saw
I dreamt
I drew on paper
I liked
Now its on the T

Whenever you want to embroider or appliqué  on Tee or any woven material, remember to leave ample cloth on sides of your embroidery so that the fabric is able to stretch while wearing and taking off.

You see all is not embroidered.
There are mushroom tops and thunder that I painted.
Rest all is simple  stitches...

Have you watched Ratatouille movie with your kids? remember this scene...

Turn the Tee
Why should only one side of Tee say a story, let your back/front all speak for themselves.
The sun on sunny Tee
A road with houses and trees
Aarotrika and Adhrit playing near milestone...

These appliqués are made of one inch to two inches square or small pieces of left over clothes from my earlier stitching ventures. Adhrits' Tee here is a piece of printed flannel clothe, left over from my son's dress (blue flannel night suit with teddy printed on it). So is the sun.
and so on and little stitches here and there completing the picture...

This bright green just wanted me to make a hill side with grass and wild flowers.
So here are Aarotrika and Adhrit riding up the hill to the apple tree on their tricycles...

See the apples are cheap red buttons, rest is small pieces of clothes appliquéd  and some simple stitches...

The other side is paint and ribbons...

My darlings modeling for me...
