DIY CARDBOARD ORGANIZER with DRAWERS

Here's how to DIY a Cardboard Organizer for desk or table top with Drawers to keep things well sorted out, using some cardboard boxes and paper.

Happy New Year!
I had some cardboard boxes that came with sweets and savouries and had saved them. I use cardboard boxes for craft as well as organization. I wanted to make a desktop or table top Mini chest of drawers to hold my small craft supplies or stationary items. One can even keep it on the bedside table or vanity to hold make up items or everyday use jewellery. I finally made it and wanted to share this wonderful DIY tutorial with you.

I was glad to find the boxes in similar sizes and made two drawer chest. One can make even bigger four or five drawers organizer with this technique. For giving it a finished look I used some images from internet and had them printed out on regular A4 size paper and used it to cover my Organizer and Drawers. Watch my Video for detailed instructions on how I made it.

I hope you liked my Cardboard organizer or Chest of Drawers. I share many DIY videos or tutorials regularly on my YouTube channel. Hope you find them useful too. If you like or make this organizer, do drop in a comment, I would really appreciate that. Have a wonderful day!

Tutorial: DIY Halterneck Backless Crop Top from old T-shirt

Hi Everyone!
Summer is soon approaching!
Am here today with a very simple tutorial on how to make a stylish Halterneck Backless Crop Top. That too, re-purposed and reused from an old t-shirt.

At times its difficult with kid's clothes. This T just shrank one size after first wash. My daughter just adores the color and 'Bambi" appliquƩ on it. So here, I just had to do something about it...Can't just throw it away?

After having seen and being inspired by many crafters and DIYers do T-shirt refashion, I came up with my plan. So out came the scissors and..
Just neatly cut away the sleeves so that:
a) there is one inch shoulder left, next
b) turn over the T-shirt and chop off the back in a neat line above the armhole level
c) What is left of the back ,cut a vertical line from top to bottom in the center.

Now gather all the chopped off fabric, DON"T throw away.
I picked the stitches and lay the pieces straight flat on floor and
Chop, chop...
Cut horizontal strips of about 1 inch or 2.5 cm thickness

Now this is fun part
You just have to do it to enjoy it
Hold the two free ends of the strip and give a good pull
and you have a neat cord with free edges neatly folded in which just don't need to be stitched

Now I sew a cord on each shoulder for the neck tie for halterneck pattern.
I also attached two cords one on each side of the back to secure the halterneck backless crop top.

Vow its done...She looks pretty in this. Very Summer-ish.

This is the back which shows the two tie ups at the back and on the neck of the halterneck top.

Also made a matching bracelet with the left over cords which can do double duty as pony tail hair band or as of course the bracelet. Look here...

Am a cotton/satin/silk stitched top person, but now am in look out for Ts.
Its so quick...
its addicting...

DIY: Table Foosball or Soccer with cardboard at Home

A very big Hi to all of You!
Sometime back it was my son's birthday and I wanted to make him something more than a cake and the Shirt..
I made him a Table Foosball or Soccer..
He was thrilled...

I photographed the steps to share on my blog with you,
But forgot to take measurements..
So, if anyone of you can see me now,
am sitting with the Soccer board and measuring tape while am writing this blog :)

OK! So I started with a big empty cardboard box.
As you see I have cut it open into half,
so that, now my field is 14 inches by 20 inches, and 6 inches deep.
I cut out small rectangles 3 inches by 1.5 inches on either sides along the width of box,
as the goal posts.
And
Cut four small holes just big enough to allow the rods through on either sides along the length, 4 inches from the ground.

Next I covered the walls of the board with white paper using craft glue.

I used green textured handmade paper at the base of the box
to make the field.

You can used dowels, but I had some light weight metal rods,
Which I cut to 25 inches size,
Sanded the sharp ends smooth
Painted them black
Let dry before use.

Next using my acrylic color I painted the markings on the field.

Put in the four rods through the holes across the field.

Next cut out 12 strips of cardboard
8 inches by 1.7 inches.
Stuck them to the rods equidistant to each other using double sided tape.
Folded down the two ends and covered them with white paper to make the players.
Next using some colors and marker pens
I painted the players.

Painted the players both sides.
Make sure you make two teams on alternative rods and don't forget the goal keepers.

Next drop in a ping-ping ball or any light ball
Go ahead and maybe color it and
Your football or soccer ball is ready.

As you see
My kids were so thrilled
Couldn't even take a still steady pic..

Hope am helpful and inspiring  enough
for you to go ahead and make one for yourself!

Do tell me how you liked this project of mine on the comment box bellow.

DIY: Tic Tac Toe from Pebbles & Fabric scrap

Hi Everybody!

Am sharing a DIY project after a long time now!
Its fun project.
Utility project..
Kids friendly...
Super EASY....

Shall we start?
We need few pebbles. These pebbles I picked up from riverside from our last few travel trips. I chose some dark and some light shaded pebbles.
Next we need is a piece of fabric (say15cm x 50cm), just big enough to paint the game and make pouch to store the pebbles.
Two strings about 50cm each ( Well finally I used green colored file tags or shoe lace).
Acrylic or fabric paint (I used white and black) and brush.
Matching thread to sew, scissors and sewing machine.

Next I painted the Tic Tac Toe frame on the fabric.
Painted cross and "O" on pebbles. One can add a little coat of varnish over the pebbles for the extra shine.
A note on where to paint the frame of the game: Cut the fabric in required size. Fold the fabric just as it would look like as a draw string bag. At the folded base of the fabric, say 1cm from mid line paint the Tic Tac Toe frame.

Once the fabric paint is dry, sew your draw string bag.
Its super easy..
Will share a tutorial some day..:)
Put your pebbles in the bag...
And done....

Carry your game along with you.
Pour out the pebbles,
Stretch out the bag, and
Just start playing...

A very rustic old game made in a rustic old way...
Hope you will also enjoy making it with me....

DIY an evergreen MINI PLANT from Leftovers

Hi Everyone!
The winter is approaching us. The weather has that lovely feel..
Just sitting by my window sill
I did this little craft. Even kids can do this.

Had a few artificial flowers. There were some artificial filler attached to them. I separated out the fillers.

Got an empty can's plastic lid, little florist foam and some wire or twigs.

Cut the foam to fit in the lid. Fix the twigs at the ends of the artificial fillers to you desired length ( just proportionate to the lid or vase ).

Arrange the fillers in your new vase.
Can fill up the vase with some white/ color stone chips..
And its done...

Now it sits pretty on a shelf in my home.
Rather simple craft out of waste products..

Drab to FAB: Painted Leather Bag

Hi!
Had been wanting to do this craft since a long time.
Watched many Internet sources and videos.
Finally did it.

This was a favorite bag of mine in white leather. As with other white objects, this bag also lost its luster. But the lining, chain and lock is still in excellent conditions. Just couldn't throw it away.

Wiped  the surface with cotton dipped in alcohol to remove any protective layer over the leather and to prepare the leather for new pigment.
I used acrylic colors.
You need more than two coats of diluted acrylic with water (1:1 ratio). Crush and twist the bag well before each coat, so that the next coat fills in any crack or wrinkle.
BE PATIENT!
Let the paint dry completely between each coat of color.
Once you are satisfied with the color, give final UNdiluted coat of acrylic paint.

Recently I was watching many videos on brush painting art of Rosmaling.
This is my first attempt at Rosemaling.

After many patient hours
My bag is ready!!

Here is my new bag :)

It looks great! I wore it to a party and my friends liked it.
You got to try painting leather...

GROW SUCCULENTS IN HOURS!

Hi !
Spring is coming...
Time to grow plants...
Grow some succulents in matter of hour or two!!
Though idea came to me through other pioneers,
I myself tried it just this time :)

These are disposable containers made of terracotta or burnt clay.
For my project, I chose the smallest clay pot (used originally as disposable tea cup in India, known as Kulhar)
Pick your pot and clean it.
Apply a thin coat of primer (I used fine tinted clay used on wood with craft glue and little water in equal proportions). Let it dry.
Sand the surface to get smooth finish using fine sand paper or rag.

Fire your imaginations and paint the outer part and rim of your pot.
I used gold and red color to decorate my pot.

YOU DON'T HAVE A SUCCULENT ???
GET A STONE :)
Take a stone and clean it with soap and water. Dry well.
Paint it with green acrylic color. Dry well.
Now use fine brush and white acrylic paint to paint thorns on your succulent.
Dry well.
BE PATIENT...

Fill your decorated pot with clean dry sand.
Push and stand your succulent in it.
DONE !!!

Here's my succulent sitting pretty adding a touch of green to my living room...
I plan to make more succulents in future :)
