Design my own..

The trousers are made of good quality dark chocolate terricot with more cotton ratio in it..
It is worn with buttons near the waist on one side, (well hidden)..
There is also a pocket on the other side of waist..
What's interesting is the pleats that you see in the bottom part..
Just like churidaar..

So its neat as a trouser and has pleats as churidaar..

Me Made May 2016: Day 10

Good to see you All here!

Today as I was going out to meet some friends, took these
 pictures..
I love RED..

The kurta is made of red pure cotton self patterned fabric..
This is me made pattern..
The neck starts as closed round, but just near the center becomes "V"
The kurta does not have a separate yoke but in its place,
I have put many pin tucks to give texture to the chest part of the kurta..
giving it style quotient..
The sleeves are slightly puffed in the ends..

I wore this kurta with my semi patiyala salwar discussed on day 2

Smart, casual and very comfortable dress..
Hope you all like it..
See you tomorrow..

Me Made May: Day 9

Hi Everyone!

Its a nice cheerful day..
Am out to the club and hence asked my friend Arpita to take my picture for today..
Its so easy and nice when someone takes your pic..

Both upper kurta and lower churidaar are me made..

The upper kurta is an A-line dress
Made of Off-white factory machine embroidered cotton and Mustard yellow block printed cotton
The sleeves have off-white fabric piping in the end..
In the dress wherever the Off-white fabric meets the Mustard fabric I have added a lace made of moss green and maroon threads.
How does this match?
Moss green goes with my lowers i.e. Churidaar pajama, and
Maroon matches with the block print on the mustard fabric..
What do you say?

Smart dress..Isn't it?
Hope you all have a very cheerful day!
Meet you tomorrow..

Me Made May: Day 8

Hi Friends!

As an extension to yesterday's post
Am going to talk about the top

The top is made of self patterned and printed chiffon fabric
The shoulders before cutting are pulled towards the neck with help of two pin tucks
This gives stylish look to top, space for body and also show shoulder a bit more..
The top is made of just a metre of cloth
Front open and buttoned..

Simple yet very stylish and useful daily wear..
See you tomorrow in something different..

Me Made may 2016: Day 7

Hi Friends!

Today am back with a long gypsy or bohemian style skirt..
I love the free flowing feel around me..

The skirt is made of printed chiffon fabric taken out from my mother's used saree worn over an underskirt..

Design: Gypsy or Bohemian
Measure the waist at naval level and add some extra inches to make the waist band
As you notice the skirt is made in 5 tiers
Measure the length from naval to heel for total length of skirt
Divided total length of skirt by 5 to get width of each tier
Tier1: Waist measure + 0.5 metre
Tier2: Tier1 + 1 metre
Tier3: Tier2 + 1 metre
Tier4: Tier3 + 1 metre

Tier5: Tier4 + 1 metre
Sew them one after the other as the image drawn with pleats.
Put elastic in waist band
And you are ready to go..

The top here is also sewn by me
But let me talk about it tomorrow..
See you then..

Me Made May 2016: Day 6

Hi and a VERY GOOD DAY TO YOU ALL!

Am back again..
Taking my own pic is little difficult..
Managing position, exposure,..
Please bear with the image quality today

My today's me made garment is..

This is a top made of natural dyed hand-loom cotton fabric.
The top has a collar and is worn in overlap fashion, tied up with strings on the side.
Do note the asymmetry of the overlapping parts, highlighting the style..

The back side is no less interesting
There is a small cutout just bellow the collar adding fun..

This garment goes very well with trousers, jeans, wrap and skirts

Me Made May 2016: Day 4

Hi Everyone!

Am so thrilled..
Today's dress is..

Well today am wearing both the upper(kurta) and lower (churidaar payjama)  garment stitched by me.

The kurta is made of cotton fabric with block print. I have added border of contrasting strips of printed pink and muted gold fabric near sleeves, lower border and yoke.
The yoke is further embellished with sequins and Sindhi embroidery in red. The Sindhi embroidery is by my mother. I learnt Sindhi embroidery from Mamma, but am a little less confident with it.

This is a lovely satin top in a shade of mauve..
I teamed it with little touches of white here and there
The neckline has little weave of white and mauve strips..
Tiny sequins adorn the chest..
Single line lace define the edge of sleeve..
The white stitched in place belt with crochet flower just completes it..

Me Made May 2016: Day 2

Hi Everyone!
Am really thrilled to see so many people watching this post..
Thank you for your time and appreciation!
 Today is 2nd May
And my today's outfit is this

I sew a semi-patiyala salwar (the lower garment). This garment was originally designed and popular in Punjab state of India. The name comes from the place called Patiyala. Though now it is a very popular lowers wore by most of India and its neighboring countries.
Owing to its versatile use, it has gained popularity amongst all age groups.
Here I have teamed it with a Lycra sleeveless T-shirt  and a stole.
One can wear it with long or short kurtas or may be even boyfriend's shirt and belt..

Shall meet you tomorrow again..

Me Made May 2016 :Day1

Hi Everybody!

As you know by now that am participating in Zoe's Me Made May 2016 for the first time, to showcase my own made garments for the complete month of May 2016.
I started sewing for myself sometime in my college life, say, sixteen or seventeen years back. Since then I have sewn many garments for myself. Now am married with two kids, and it gives me immense pleasure to sew for them and also for home.
As I said I shall share one me sewn garment each day, here is

Day 1

This top has a bohemian look!
It is made from silk fabric rescued from my mother's discarded silk saree. The asymmetric sleeves add fun to the outfit.
See you tomorrow!
